If, like me, you haven’t managed to get your trainers on and out of the door to any great effect yet this year, for whatever reason - my excuses go a bit like this by the way: recovering from sprained ankle, terrible weather, busy at work, in need of new running shoes - then this clip of Aimee Mullins talking about her incredible running career at TED talks in 1998 should give you some inspiration.

Aimee Mullins is an American athlete, actress, model and motivational speaker. She is best known for her athletic accomplishments against able-bodied competitors at collegiate level and her paralympic record setting achievements in 1996 in Atlanta, despite having both of her legs amputated at the age of one as a result of being born with no fibula bones (fibular hemimelia).
